What can be inspected on a linear feeder track?

Depending on the component and inspection method, the system may check presence, count, orientation, colour, a pin or hole, a moulded feature, or a defined optically distinguishable surface feature or condition before release.

Inspection cannot compensate for uncontrolled presentation. The track must first hold the component within the positional and rotational window that the sensor or camera can evaluate. Where automatic rejection is used, its removal and confirmation sequence must be proven without creating a second fault.

Write the accept/reject decision in plain language before selecting the sensor, camera or lighting.

Capabilities depend on the final sensor, camera, optics, lighting, component and environment. No detection rate should be assumed without a representative test and agreed criteria.

01Can vision check the orientation of a component on a feeder track?

Often yes when the distinguishing feature is visible and the track presents the part consistently. The camera, lighting, positional variation and decision limits must be proven with representative samples.

02How are misorientated parts removed?

Possible routes include a gate, air reject, recirculation path or controlled stop. The method and any removal-confirmation sequence must be proven against component behaviour, line speed and reject risk.

03Is a photoelectric sensor enough?

It may be sufficient for simple presence or level detection. More complex orientation or feature decisions can require alternative sensing or a vision system.

04What samples are needed for an inspection trial?

Provide normal good parts across expected variation, known rejects, boundary examples, colour or finish variants and any contamination or presentation conditions the process must tolerate.
