How does a component counting and batching feeder work?

A bowl, step or other primary feeder first separates and orients the components. A linear track then creates a controlled queue towards a sensor, vision point or escapement where each accepted part produces one defined count event.

When the recipe quantity is reached, the controls stop the feed, close a gate or switch the receiving container. Reliable operation depends on singulation, a stable count point and a changeover sequence that prevents parts entering the wrong batch.

The counter is only as reliable as the component presentation and the controlled boundary around each batch.

01Can components be counted without weighing them?

Yes. Suitable parts can be singulated and counted as they pass a sensor, vision point or escapement. The sensing method and presentation must be proven against the complete component range.

02How are doubles or overlapping parts prevented from corrupting the count?

Track tooling, spacing, escapements or inspection can create a testable one-part event. The acceptance trial should deliberately challenge the minimum gap and likely overlap conditions.

03Can one system run several batch quantities?

Often yes, using controlled recipes. Each recipe should define the target quantity, feed and gate sequence, receptacle confirmation, fault response and any required record.

04What happens if power is lost during a batch?

The project should define whether the count is retained, the incomplete batch is quarantined or the sequence restarts. The safe and traceable response depends on the process requirement.
